@InspectorCaracal yeah I'm lazy and the classes don't actually influence the mention from working or not. all that's needed is a href that points to the user's profile. or actually, you don't even need a mention inside the actual toot :P

actually good point I don't think my mentions work at all and just open the actual profile page in a new tab

woops. should work with the above mention now though

@nightpool @chr @impiaaa @zatnosk @InspectorCaracal bunch of javascript and a div with contenteditable set. honestly 50% of the time spent in it is trying to figure out how to make it recognize a mention and it's half broken in firefox on android so yeah

@InspectorCaracal @zatnosk @chr @impiaaa yeah I just manually wrote the twitter mention (my client has a WYSIWYG html editor) and decided not to add the mention class. could just as well do this or #this (neither actually being mentions nor hashtags! :P)

\o/ ActivityPub is now a W3C recommendation! congrats @cwebber, @erincandescent, @rhiaro, and a whole bunch of other cool people for getting the spec there!

(this message has been brought to you via ActivityPub :P)

@er1n @ashkitten so there hasn't happened much yet. but currently glitch-soc and {another server that implements the mastodon API for compat}  have a max_toot_chars property on /v1/api/instance. There's no other extension mechanism as of now that is semi-widely implemented...

@nightpool @er1n okay okay I was too lazy to check and somehow expected it not to be in there
